(Columnists Note: Few Christians realize the graces available to us as we enter into the various mysteries of Christ’s life here on earth. Due to His hypostatic union [fully human, fully divine] – every moment of Christ’s life here on earth was both inside and outside of time. Therefore we are able to literally enter into these times of His life. Just as the Holy Mass is an actual reliving of Calvary, where we are called to actually find ourselves there; we can as well go to Bethlehem, or any other place where our Divine Savior trod.)

As I find myself in the little cave at Bethlehem, I am not only in awe of this great mystery of the Incarnation- God becoming man; but I feel so humbled, so frail, and very much baby Jesus, nativity scenerelating with the “little drummer boy” in not having a lot to bring, other than myself… my frail self. In fact, I don’t even play a musical instrument. But what I do sense in my heart to bring is the great love and affection that I have for Him, for Mary.

As I approach His Sacred majesty, I feel I should stay back in reverence; and yet, everything in me longs to be close, to bow over the manger to kiss His face, His hands, His feet… to love Him, to thank Him for coming. And, so I do…. And there I rest in stillness, gazing upon Him as He gazes upon me. “Jesus, I love you!” I share with Him as tears stream down my eyes… “I love you!”

My heart is deeply saddened as I already know the ultimate fate that He must suffer in His humanity. And, again I say to Him, “Thank you!… Thank you for coming! Where would I be without you!… When you entered into the darkness of this world, you entered into the darkness of my heart, and brought into it the light of the Father’s love and grace… May you continue to enter into the dark rooms that surface in my heart.”

Then I find myself gazing upward toward the Heavenly Father, who is undoubtedly looking down upon us, and I say, “Thank you Father! For sending us your Son to set us free!” And, then toward Mary gesturing, “Thank you Mother! I love you!”

Mary, on the other side of the manger from me, proceeds to kiss Jesus tenderly and caress His face, with tears in her eyes… because she knows.. she knows that He is Love personified…He is truly the Savior who will be rejected by many, and ultimately give His life for us.

I rest for a while in the reality of this profound mystery before me, in the frail little way I am able; witbirth of Jesus, Father, Maryh great awareness of the Father’s loving presence shining down upon Jesus. I am very aware of the union of love between the Father and the Son; and the Holy Spirit which is sent forth to draw us into this mystery of communion as well.

I am aware of humble, chaste St. Joseph as Jesus’ earthly father, caring for His needs and formation along with Mary on the natural realm; but I am even more so aware of our Heavenly Father’s providential care being at the heart of Jesus’ whole life and mission.

From here my contemplation will branch off into the following two aspects which I plan to enter into interchangeably throughout the Christmas Season.
1). I find myself becoming one with Baby Jesus, opening myself to the Father’sbirth of Jesus, Mary nursing eternal gaze of love and providential care for me; soaking in the truth of my own dignity and identity as a child of God; and also allowing Mary to hold, love, kiss, caress and nourish me as she does with baby Jesus; as she gazes into my eyes as such a perfect Mother. In this I bond with my Heavenly Father and Mother!

2) Mary invites me to hold Jesus… I love Him, caress Him, allow Him to rest His Heart on mine. I bond with not only my Savior, redeemer and Friend, but my Divine Lover and Bridegroom; as He invites me to know Him in this early stage of His life: this profound mystery of His Incarnation – “And the Word became flesh and dwelt among us!”

I pray that we may all have the grace throughout this Christmas Season to enter deeply into the mystery of the Incarnation. I share personal reflection of my own experience of this mystery. But I encourage each of us to encounter the Divine Christ Child personally in our own hearts. Jesus became flesh in order that we could relate with Him in a deeply personal and meaningful way. And, He is begotten again at every Holy Mass during the Consecration of bread and wine. May we not miss out on all the graces available to us.

“Do not be afraid; for behold, I proclaim to you good news of great joy
that will be for all the people.For today in the city of David
a savior has been born for you who is Christ the Lord.” (Lk 2:10-11)

Recently I found myself longing to hold baby Jesus as I was contemplating this Advent/Christmas Season; but in discipline I chose to wait till Christmas Eve to “unwrap” mary-with-child-lightthis great gift. And in doing so I immediately found myself turning to Mary and placing my hand on her womb, opening myself to connect with baby Jesus there.

Since then I have found myself uniting with Jesus in the womb of Mary… first from outside; but then, while spending time with Jesus in adoration I found myself imagining that the chapel I was in was Mary’s womb; and I began spending time in the womb with Jesus, opening myself to being still in His presence, resting in the love of a perfect Mother and Father (Mary and our Heavenly Father), as Jesus did… soaking in the truths of my own dignity and identity as a “child of God”.

For this is why Jesus came… to open the gates of Heaven to us, and invite us back into communion with our Heavenly Father. By His Blood we have been redeemeMary's wombd and drawn back into the dignity and identity that we had before the fall, if we but choose to receive.

My prayer this Advent/Christmas Season, is that we will all have the grace to rest with baby Jesus, to become one with Him in opening ourselves to the “marvel [we] were made” the truth of who we were created to be. May we enter deeply into the graces of this Advent/Christmas Season, that we may come to know the love of God, the love of Mary, in a deeply intimate and profound way.

Our God longs to bond with us as His Children. He wants us to rest in the womb of His love for us, as Jesus did throughout His life here on earth; that we may know the infinite, unconditional love and acceptance of our perfect Heavenly Father.

He wants us also to rest in the womb of Mary’s love for us as Jesus did throughout His earthly life; that we may know the love of a perfect Mother as He did; that we may experience our Heavenly Father’s unconditional love and acceptance for us also through the Maternal Heart of Mary.

Mother and father wounds are the deepest wounds we can have, because our mothers and fathers are the first to reflect and draw us into God’s love. Their ultimate purpose in loving us is meant to incline us toward receptivity to the Love of our Heavenly Father and Mother, that we may know God’s perfect, unconditional love and acceptance of us.

But our parents fall short in life to varying degrees, due to their own wounds, passed down from their own parents, tracing all the way back to Adam and Eve. And so, we can remain depleted, not realizing how deeply, unconditionally and infinitely we are loved.

May this Advent/Christmas Season be a time for all of us to go to the source from which all love and truth flows, by becoming one with Baby Jesus, in opening ourselves to receive and reclaim our true dignity and identity as “children of God.

As I shared with Sr. Mary Clare my reflection of entering into the womb of Mary with Jesus, she felt drawn to enter in as well and later shared a little taste of her own experience:

When Mary gave her ‘Yes’, light entered into her womb and into this world! As I meditated on entering the womb of Mary, I saw a bright light and realized that I was with Jesus, the Light of the World! I then invited Mary to form me as she was forming Jesus, in her womb. In Her womb was Love personified, joy and peace. I found myself resting in this Love, Peace and Joy! I was also aware that Jesus and Mary were asking me and all of us, to make reparation for the darkness in some mother’s wombs, caused by the sin of abortion. Too many mother’s say ‘No’ to life in their wombs, and their wombs become a place of darkness, void of love, peace and joy.”

Can a Pope Become a Heretic?

Rev. Joseph L. Iannuzzi, STD, Ph.D.

In recent months the Roman Pontiff’s teaching authority has been openly challenged and

his supreme, full and immediate authority questioned. Particular exception has been taken to his

non ex cathedra pronouncements in light if modern prophecies which, according to some, has

troubled not a few Catholics. As a result, many Catholics have written yours truly, perplexed

over this challenge, asking for enlightment in this regard. In reponse, I am providing the faithful

with the following article to help dispel any confusion surrounding the Roman Pontiff’s teaching

authority, and herewith, a clear answer from Church Tradition and Magisterial documents

pertaining to the type of assent required from all the faithful to the Roman Pontiff, even when he

is not speaking ex cathedra.

My point of departure is the small movement within the Church that contends that validly

elected Roman Pontiffs of the past have made heretical statements and, for this reason, are

heretics. By virtue of this contention, they consider it “permissible” to question the teaching

authority of our present-day Roman Pontiff Francis. Before elucidating the three major groups

associated with this movement, it is noteworthy that among the adherents of this movement,

many acknowledge that the Church dogmas of Papal Infallibility, the Immaculate Conception (of

Pope Pius IX) and the Assumption (of Pope Pius XII) are an exercise of the charism of papal

infallibility (“ex cathedra” pronouncements), and are therefore immune from error. Nevetheless,

said adherents contend that “non ex cathedra” papal statements, even on faith and morals issues,

are not immune from heresy. The three main groups associated with this movement are the

“sede-vacantists”, “sede-privationists” and “sede-impeditists”.

The Sedeist movement

The “sedevacantists” reject the reforms of the Second Vatican Council – in some cases

this rejection extends to the validity of all post-Council papal elections, thereby professing that

the papal seat (sede) empty (vacante); the “sedeprivationists” contend that the papal seat is

occupied, but by a Pope whose pontificate is defective, as he has embraced the heresy of

modernism and unless he returns to traditional Catholicism he will not complete the process to

attain to the fullness of the papacy; the “sedeimpeditists” do not believe that the papal seat is

empty (like the sedevacantists), or that the Pope is in heresy (like the sedeprivationists), but

rather that the truly legitimate Pope exits but was impeded by certain forces from taking office.

For purposes of brevity, throughout this article I collectively refer to in the adherents of this

movement as, “sedeists”….



The aforesaid sedeist views toward the Roman Pontiff’s teaching authority, even when he

is not speaking ex cathedra, is flawed and even spiritually harmful, as it brings with it the danger

of judging the Pope according to one’s own standards and falling short of the obedience asked of

them by Christ.

35 Such individuals who support this claim reflect a fundamentalist approach to

Scripture and Catholicism by interpreting the texts and expressions of the faith divorced from

their historical context and considering themselves the highest judge of what is Catholic and

what is not. This approach appeals to pride and, as history has proven time and again, subtly

leads into pernicious error; matters that in fact are very small become magnified into large

matters, and divisions ensue within the Church.

The Catholic approach to the Roman Pontiff that I have illustrated in this article is one of

faithful adherence not simply to a mere human instructor, but to the inspired Vicar of Christ on

earth who is endowed by Christ with a special charism of teaching authority that will endure for

all ages. I here recall Christ’s words to Peter who alone among the apostles received direct

knowledge from above: “Blessed are you, Simon son of Jonah. For flesh and blood has not

revealed this to you, but my heavenly father. And I say to you, you are Peter, and upon this rock I

will build My Church, and the gates the of netherworld shall not prevail against it” (Mt. 16.17-


35 Mt. 23:3: [Jesus tells his disciples:]”The scribes and pharisees occupy the seat of Moses, so obey them in

everything they tell you…”18

18). In these words Christ does not tell Peter to build his church, but that He himself will build

his own Church, thereby implying that through Peter (who represents all future Pontiffs) Christ

accomplishes his Divine Will within his Church by the power of the Holy Spirit whom he

promised to send his apostles to “lead them to all the truth” (Jn. 16:13). It is precisely this

promised Holy Spirit who continues to inspire each Roman Pontiff to guide the Church in every

generation. The Catholic Catechism relates as much with respect to papal infallability, which

guides the Pope’s definitions: “Therefore his defintions, of themselves, and not from the consent

of the Church, are justly held irreformable, for they are pronounced with the assistance of the

Holy Spirit, as assistance promised to him in the person of blessed Peter himself”.36

The 5

th Lateran Council (1512-1517) sums it up as follows:

“The eternal Father, who will never abandon his flock up to the close of the age, so loved

obedience… that… when he [his beloved Son] was about to depart from this world to the Father,

he established Peter and his successors as his own representatives on the firmness of a rock. It is

necessary to obey them, a the book of the Kings testifies, so that whoever does not obey, incurs



The 1st Vatican Council (1869-1870) sums it up in similar fashion:

“That which our Blessed Lord… established in the blessed apostle Peter, for the

continual salvation and permanent benefit of the Church, must of necessity remain for ever, by

Christ’s authority, in the Church which, founded as it is upon a rock, will stand firm until the end

of time… Blessed Peter… received the keys of the kingdom from our Lord Jesus Christ… to this

day and forever he (Christ) lives and presides and exercises judgment in his successors…

whoever succeeds to the chair of Peter obtains… the primacy of Peter over the whole Church. So

that what the truth has ordained stands firm, and blessed Peter perseveres in the rock-like

strength he was granted, and does not abandon the guidance of the Church which he once


To him (the Roman Pontiff), in blessed Peter, full power has been given by our Lord

Jesus Christ to tend, to rule and govern the universal Church… But clergy and faithful, of

whatever rite and dignity, both singly and collective, are bound to submit to this power by the

duty of hierarchical subordination and true obedience, and this not only in matters

concerning faith and morals, but also in those which regard the discipline and government of

the Church throughout the world… he is the supreme judge of the faithful…

The Roman Pontiff possess… the supreme power of teaching… that saying of our Lord

Jesus Christ, ‘You are Peter, and upon this rock I will build my Church’, cannot fail of its

effect… the Catholic religion has always been preserved unblemished…”38

Picking up the thread of the 5th Lateran and 1st Vatican Councils, the 2nd Vatican Council

(1962-1965) declares:

“The bishops, when they are teaching in communion with the Roman Pontiff, are toe be

respected by all as witnesses to the divine and Catholic truth… The religious assent of the will

and intellect is to be given in a special way to the authentic teaching authority of the Pontiff even

when he is not speaking ex cathedra.


In his teaching authority, which is “supreme, full and immediate”,40 the Roman Pontiff

exercises a magisterial office like no other in the Church. Indeed, when Christ constituted his

divinely revealed truths once and for all in his one and unchanging Public Revelation (depositum

fidei), he did so in order that Peter, and those who occupy his Apostolic seat, would transmit this

revelation under the guidance of the Holy Spirit, even wen he is not speaking ex cathedra. Thus

the Roman Pontiff and those bishops in union with him and never apart from him, continue to

“explicate” throughout the course of the centuries Christ’s one Public Revelation.

of Peter, the rock, and his successors to whom jesus Christ gave the pledge of victory over the

falsehoods of hell for all time.”

IF YOU WERE suffering today with a terminal illness, would you want to end your life? There seems to be a theme today in real life situations, as well as movies and

television shows, depicting one who is suffering being assisted or encouraged in committing suicide in order not to suffer; in order to “plan out” how their life should end.

And many see this as a positive thing to do; as a way of being compassionate, sensitive and loving…not wanting to see another suffer more than they need to.

    I am the first to admit; it is very hard, traumatically hard at times, to see our loved ones suffering, or to be suffering ourselves, when there seems no way out. In fact, I have experienced this, to certain degrees, with my beloved mother who has been fighting lung cancer and at times has found it hard to breath (she’s doing better now, nor has she been given a 100% death sentence, but they haven’t expected her to live this long). It can be an intense suffering to see her, or anyone we love deeply, suffer in such a way.

    But I ask, is it a loving thing to do, to help one relieve their suffering by ending their life, if they’ve been diagnosed with a terminal illness? If we look at this from a mere, very limited and gravely inaccurate human perspective, the answer would seem to be “yes.” But is that how we want to look at it? That is how Satan would want us to see it, and thus he has been spreading his deceptive lies… leading us to false compassion.*

DO WE SMELL the scent of a similar scenario that took place in the beautiful Garden of Eden with our greatest grandparents Adam and Eve? Ol slew foot was slyly lurking around them to implant deception, to “inspire” them to take life into their own hands. “Did God really say [that]?” (Gen 3:1). He convinced them that God did not really have their best interest in mind. And, as we know how the story proceeds, they listened to the lie.

And, now, we are all reaping the benefits of this “fall of humankind.” We are all reaping the benefits of Adam and Eve choosing to do their own human will rather than the Divine Will of God.

Do we see the grave similarity here? Do we really want to be in control of our own lives? Or do we want our loving God and Creator to have the reigns and be in the driver’s seat? After all, He created us for a purpose that we can never on our own figure out; as, His ways are not our ways (cf Is 55:8).

Some might argue, “how can you say He is a loving God if He allows such suffering?” But the fact is, it is precisely that we go outside of His will and take the reigns, that brings about the sufferings; ie, beginning in the Garden.

    There are many questions one could ask regarding the mentality of many today. First of all, what if God planned to heal someone at the last minute who had decided to take their life? Whoops, we missed out there?

Secondly and more importantly, what if Jesus, when He realized He would have to go through His suffering and death, had Lazarus slip Him a suicide pill, or even more ludicrous have Mary (the “New Eve”) do it, so He could die more peacefully without suffering? Does there seem to be something gravely wrong with this picture? Of course, because the whole reason Jesus came into this world was to suffer and die for us; to reopen the heavenly gates to us that were closed, by Adam and Eve choosing their own wills’ over God’s.

And, of course here, someone could respond, “that is precisely right, Jesus suffered and died so we wouldn’t have to.” And, the response to that is, where does it say that He came so that we wouldn’t have to suffer? He came that we “might have life…to the full(Jn 10:10). But He tells us clearly, “Whoever wants to be my disciple must deny themselves and take up their cross daily and follow me(Lk 9:23).

As St. Paul tells us, “in my flesh I am filling up what is lacking in the afflictions of Christ on behalf of his body, which is the church(Col 1:24). Not that Christ’s sufferings at Calvary were lacking in any way regarding our redemption; but, Christ has given us such a high dignity that we could be co-redeemers with Him by aiding in the distribution of the graces He won for us at Calvary. This being said, our sufferings can gain powerful merit and graces for ourselves and others.** The Catholic Church speaks of this as “redemptive suffering” (see St. John Paul II’s Apostolic Letter: Redemptive Suffering).

WHAT PEOPLE FORGET is that this life is very short and but an anti-chamber to prepare us for Heaven (if we so choose to go there by cooperating with God’s graces). Think of it this way; say we decide we do want to kill ourselves to avoid a certain suffering. What if God had wanted to use that specific suffering in our lives, to aid us or one of our loved ones, in preparing for Eternity? So where does that leave us when we die? At best (God only knows) in purgatory, suffering to prepare and purify us in a way we didn’t allow for here on earth; at worst, in the fires of hell because we didn’t choose God in this life but rather ourselves.

Satan has done such a good job, as “prince of this world,” in deceiving so many into believing and living the “spirit of this world;” which is in opposition to the Spirit of God. The three things that we are up against in this fallen world are: the world, the flesh and the devil. Most people are being inspired in their way of living by these three ways. This in fact, is why the world crucified Jesus. He was in opposition. He was trying to bring the Truth and Love of the Father to us, and yet many didn’t receive Him. Many succumbed to the temptations and deceptions of the evil one.

THIS ARTICLE IS FOR THOSE who want to live with and for God in this life. If so, we are called to surrender ALL to Him, including how we are to die; not taking it into our own hands. Are there areas in our lives right now in which we are trying to be in control? The key for us as Christians is to always strive to be in the stance of surrendering our human wills to His Divine Will. “Thy Kingdom come, Thy will be done, on earth as it is in Heaven!” (Mat 6:10).

Of course, Jesus came to show us the way to live in the Father’s Divine Will. Every moment of His life on earth, His Heart was united with the Father, seeking His Will and plan (cf. Jn 6:38, Lk 22:42). And, Mary is the one creature who lived constantly the Divine Will throughout her own earthly life (cf. Gen. 3:15, Lk 1:38, Rev. 12). She never once did her human will, which coincides with the Catholic Churches teachings on her Immaculate Conception, her Assumption into Heaven and many other beautiful mysteries of her life.

There is great hope for all of us. God has a very important plan and mission for each of us on this earth and beyond. It may look differently than we expected, but it is important for us to live in abandonment to His Divine Providence in the present moment… allowing Him to be the lead as we remain in the dance of life with Him.

Whether we are suffering from Ebola, at the hands of Isis, a tsunami, a hurricane or the many other physical, emotional, mental and spiritual sufferings that come our way, if we are in the Heart of God (which Mary helps us to do most fully and perfectly), we are in a part of paradise here on earth, we will have the grace to suffer anything that is asked of us, with a deep joy and peace in our hearts.

Saint Faustina tells us, “At the beginning of my religious life, suffering and adversities frightened and disheartened me. So I prayed continuously, asking Jesus to strengthen me and to grant me the power of His Holy Spirit that I might carry out His holy will in all things, because from the beginning I have been aware of my weakness.” [p. 56] She later writes; “From the moment I came to love suffering, it ceased to be a suffering for me. Suffering is the daily food of my soul.”

    Saint Paul tells us,
If God is for us who can be against us?…What will separate us from the love of Christ? Will anguish, or distress, or persecution, or famine, or nakedness, or peril, or the sword?…No, in all these things we conquer overwhelmingly through him who loved us”
(Rom 8:35-37).

I was greatly touched and inspired when I walked into the chapel the other day to find my dear Sr. Mary Clare in a beautiful stance of prayer and bonding with baby Mary (see pic).

We have had this beautiful little statue of Mary as an infant on our altar in honor of her birthday September 8th. As we like to do at times, we extended her birthday, in an informal way, to an octave celebration so that we could enter more deeply into this mystery; especially because one of the graces we have been praying for in our communal life together lately is child-likeness and littleness.

I asked Sr. Mary Clare if she could share her experience and she wrote:

“As I was holding baby Mary in my arms, I was contemplating how She was so small once just as Her Son was. No one thinks too much about the littleness of Mary as they do the littleness of baby Jesus. I couldn’t help but feel such tenderness and love for baby Mary as I was holding Her. I experienced such peace and contentment as I was caressing Her. She was drawing me into Her littleness and I felt vulnerable, but yet, protected and loved. I felt a Mother-Child bond that I could not put into words.”

On Mary’s birthday we prayed a Rosary of 5 mysteries in her honor, specifically focusing on her birth. And during each of the decades we entered into the room where Mary was born, and where she lay in a cradle, contemplating this mystery of her littleness, her purity, her child-likeness.

We read a few different meditations that our Mother reportedly gave through Fr. Gobbi regarding her birth, which drew us into deeper contemplation of this mystery (that the Church celebrates nine months after her Immaculate Conception on Dec. 8th). Following are a couple of highlights from the messages:

“Share, beloved children, in the joy of all the Church which today venerates that mystery of love which is the birth of your heavenly Mother… All Heaven exults in this mystery; the angels and saints share in your joy” (MMP # 160 a).

“Look at your mother as an infant. Because I was little, I was pleasing to the Most High” (MMP 109 a).

“Look to your heavenly Mother. I am at your side at every moment. From my Immaculate Heart rays of light and of grace are ever issuing forth and showering upon you in every part of the world.

“Thus I enlighten and beget you, nourish and form you, guide and sustain you. Each day, you too share in the mystery of love which is your new birth given you by your Mother” (MMP #160 b,c).

As I spent time entering more deeply into this mystery of Mary’s birth, I sensed the “child within me” being called forth in ever-greater surrender, vulnerability and child-like trust, as Mary was in her infancy, which continued throughout her life.


As you can see, my dear sister inspired me to cradle baby Mary as well🙂

Today is the last day of our little informal celebration of Mary’s birth, and how fitting it is to end on this very special memorial feast of Our Sorrowful Mother which is ushering in for us another very special mystery of Mary’s life. In this mystery we contemplate her role as co-redemptrix, and also her beautiful, very human, motherly heart; that not only suffered for her beloved Son Jesus 2000 years ago, but also suffers for us, her present-day children, now.

May we all have the grace to get to know Mary evermore deeply, from the moment of her Immaculate Conception to her Crowning as Queen of Heaven and earth. She is now here for us as Mother and Queen. She longs for us to open our hearts to receive her as our true spiritual Mother, and oh how she is faithful in revealing herself to us if we do. She longs for this only so that she can draw us most quickly, smoothly, deeply, wholeheartedly into communion with our Triune God/a living out of our Baptismal Vows.

“Truly I tell you, unless you change and become like little children, you will never enter the kingdom of heaven” (Mat 18:3).

Are We Really Being Honest About Our Hunger?

christ hugging manChrist hugging What is your hunger? What is it for which you thirst? Let us be honest, be real with ourselves even if we feel ashamed as though it is a disorder…
We must bring it to Jesus! Present it to Jesus in full light and truth. Share openly and vulnerably with Him; for this He longs to have with us.
And we will see that layers of our superficial and disordered longings begin to peel away, till we find at the core our true self, our deepest and truest longing which is for love – to be deeply known and loved by another to the core of who we are.
For this, my dear friends, is the deepest hunger and thirst that we all have – and with which we have all been created. Why?
Imagine a magnet – created to be drawn to and attached to metal. We are all created to be drawn to and attached to the love for which we were created. – Love Divine.
MANY THINGS we can feel drawn and attached to other than this love. They may have hints or even facades of this Love, but never on their own can they truly satisfy us.
Do we feel a restlessness or discontent, a desire for something more? If we take time to be really honest with ourselves, we cannot answer anything other than “yes.” … Unless, that is, we have already found the “pearl of great price” and sold everything else to buy it.
“My soul is not at rest until it rests in You my God!” St. Augustine prayed. “You were within and I was all the while looking outside.”
Yes, the answer to our hunger and thirst comes from within. It comes first from a true surrendering of our hearts and lives to our Creator; and then from allowing His redeeming, healing, consoling love to enter in.
Jesus died that we “might have life, and have it to the full” (Jn 10:10). He gives us the living waters of His love to quench our thirst, as He tells us, “whoever drinks of the water that I shall give him will never thirst; the water that I shall give him will become in him a spring of water welling up to eternal life” (Jn 4:13).
His life-giving Spirit is the “water” for which we thirst; His true presence in the Eucharist is the “living bread” for which we hunger.
He truly fills and satisfies the deepest longings of our hearts if we but become like the woman at the well and ask, “Sir, give me this water, that I may not thirst!” (Jn 4:15). And this we must do daily.
And then, we will be responding to Isaiah’s plea, “Oh, that you may suck fully of the milk of comfort” (Is 66:10). We will be saying with the psalmist, “As a weaned child in its mother’s arms, so my soul rests in you my God” (131:2).
“When you see this your hearts will rejoice and your bodies flourish like the grass” (Is 66:14).

“You’ve Got to be Real!”

Dear Family and Friends,

Following is a recent testimony of Sr. Mary Clare who is now united with me in Missionaries of Our Mother of the Eucharist. Thought you might like.

It’s such a consolation when we can let down our guard and be who we really are before God without feeling the need to hide or prove anything; and just let him love us and hold us in our brokenness… for this is where true healing takes place.

“He leads me beside still waters, He restores my soul” (Ps 23). For “His yoke is easy, His burden light.”

“You’ve Got to be Real”

                I have never had so much peace as I have now. God is good! I will try to explain the best way I can what God has been doing in my life to bring this about.

                I have been introduced to John Paul II’s “Theology of the Body” and inner-healing. This has allowed me the opportunity to be able to go to my deeper heart and to be real with God in sharing every aspect of my life and allow inner healing to take place. This has been very key for me.

                We are all in need of inner healing. The whole world is in need of this since we come from such a broken world. We all desire to have the peace of God within the very core of our being.

                I have often experienced that Priests and Religious are placed on high pedestals, and in order to stay on top of the pedestal, we can end up looking great on the surface but lacking deep peace and full freedom in who we are before God. God desires us to be real with Him and to bring all our desires to Him whether they be disordered or ordered.

                If we keep repressing our disordered desires and over-spiritualize as if we have everything all together, we can never be fully healed and live in the freedom of God. God wants us to invite Him right into our disordered desires, or “poopy scoop” so to speak, and bring His Divine Light and healing into every dark area or dark room of our lives.

    Many of us want to look good in the eyes of others and we find our identity in what others think about us, which is mostly false, instead of caring what God thinks about us. God loves us unconditionally and He desires us to rise up out of our poopy scoop that we have wallowed in for too long.

                The more we come into the Light of His Divine Mercy, the more we can see our sins, our dirty diapers; but the more we allow God to come in and change our dirty diapers, the more we can grow in the freedom of the spirit.

      This is the freedom of what has happened to me since I have allowed God to enter into an area of my life that I didn’t want Him to look at. I would take it to confession, which was a great grace, but it was always lingering and would stick up its ugly head once in a while.

                I know many people who have told me that they take the same sins to confession over and over again and they seem to not be able to change. I have good news! If we go before our Lord in the Blessed Sacrament and journal our desires before Him, whether they are ordered or disordered desires, and we are real with Him, He will bring us to an intimate place in our heart with Him. He wants us to be real with Him and this takes much humility. I have experienced a new freedom in Christ and His tender love for me.

                May we all have the grace to remove any masks that prevent us from truly exposing ourselves in all that we are to the Hearts of Jesus and Mary, as They expose Their Hearts to us. Like the song says, “To be real; you’ve got to be real!”

                It is in this that we are able to become the fullness of who we were created to be. We will be so filled with His love for us that we will desire to fall into His embrace. The One who will help us to do this quickly is our Mother. If we consecrate ourselves to Her Immaculate Heart, She will help us to ride the wave of Grace. She is the quickest way to the Eucharistic Heart of Jesus. May we always run to the Two Hearts of Jesus and Mary!
